The Lewisville school district has grown rapidly during the last 15 years and in 2010 enrollment reached 51,000 kids. Growth will continue 1200-2000 students each year until 2016 when the Lewisville ISD expects enrollment around 60,000.
Covering about 127 square miles, the LISD serves families in 13 areas including:
•Lewisville • Flower Mound • Carrollton • Highland Village • Frisco • Double Oak
• Grapevine • Copper Canyon • Plano • The Colony • Hebron • Argyle
Lewisville schools earn high grades
The district should be proud of the large percentages of its schools that have earned the “Exemplary” and “Recognized” ratings of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as well as its many National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence – the highest designation a school can earn from the US Department of Education. In 2011 38 schools ranked “Exemplary”, 20 were “Recognized” and the district counted 6 schools among the National Blue Ribbon award winners.
Lewisville ISD avoiding growing pains
With all the growth that is occuring in the Lewisville ISD, one would have to wonder how they’re going to fare with the inevitable growing pains. But it seems the district is thriving on the
growth. In 2008 Lewisville school district residents saw fit to pass a $697 Million bond package fund the expansion. And it appears much of the money is going toward student learning in addition to more buildings. Student test scores have not suffered, and in fact, seem as high as ever. In 2009-2010 Lewisville students scored over 100 points higher than the national average on the SAT. And 98% of Lewisville ISD kids go on to graduation. So it appears LISD is managing its growth just fine, thank you.
