Each school page offers videos, curriculum information, links to individual school websites, and HOMES. So pick a school district below and let’s get started!

The D/FW Metroplex covers more than 400 square miles. So it’s not surprising that there are more than 100 public school districts in the area, plus another 250 or so private and parochial schools.

You probably know Texas school districts and campuses receive “Exemplary”, “Recognized”, “Acceptable” or “Unacceptable” ratings from the state. These ratings are partly based on overall student test scores. But did you know there are actually 26 different measurements for a school district or campus rating? Individual campus and district wide ratings are not based on academics alone…

I always encourage parents to visit the schools in a new area. Everyone likes to rely on district ratings, and I’ve even included them on each school district page on this site. But it’s impossible to count on them to compare districts. For example, a large district like Arlington educates over 60,000 kids. Is it really fair to compare an entire district, with such diversity, to a district like Southlake for example, that is much more homogeneous and educates around 7900 kids?

It’s much more important to look at the individual schools that your child may attend. Be sure and make the time to get out there and take a look at the schools. I’ve found they’re happy to meet with prospective parents and students. They’d love the opportunity to show you around. Not only will you get a better feel for the schools fit for your child, you’ll feel a lot better sending your kids to a school you have more knowledge about than what you can read online or in a brochure.
