Lewisville walks a tightrope between small-town USA and the urban Metroplex it is a part of. Situated on 100 miles of quiet Lake Lewisville shoreline,
the city is easily accessible to the entire urban metroplex from both the I-35E and State Highway 121 corridors.
Lewisville offers the best of old and new
Lewisville offers up old and new, relaxed and formal, diverse and united. Residents would agree the city does a great job of providing its citizens with the best of all worlds. The urban core of the city,
Old Town Lewisville offers the unique ambiance of turn of the century storefronts housing antique shops, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. The Farmers Market is held here from May through October. Among Lewisville’s 16 other “retail therapy outlets” is the Vista Ridge Mall at I-35 and Round Grove Road. With over 1 million square feet of shopping it’s one of the largest malls in the area. (Take special note of where you park!)
100 miles of shoreline
Lewisville Lake on the northern edge of the city offers just over 100 miles of shoreline, and proves to be a popular tourist spot drawing millions (yes, millions!) of visitors every year. Boating, sailing, water skiing and fishing are encouraged. There’s even a swimming beach. Hobie Fleet 23, the largest and most active fleet of catamarans “hangs out” at Lake Lewisville. In the summer it’s not unusual to see close to 100 catamarans on the beach. And some of the sport’s hottest racers belong to the club. Be sure and check out Sailboard Point in Lake Lewisville Park for the opportunity to try something new. Or just take a stroll around one of the marinas and take a look at of the yachts anchored there.
Skate parks, dog parks and everything in between
The City of Lewisville operates 23 parks,
3 recreation centers, and numerous baseball, softball, soccer and football fields. One of my favorites, though not the largest by any means, is Railroad Park. This 250 acre green space was, at the time of construction in 2002, the largest single capital project in the history of Lewisville. It includes three man-made lakes, Scion Skate Park, and the best little dog park in Texas.
Lewisville is home to the arts
Special events are going on all year in Lewisville… Some take place at the outdoor Amphitheatre like the Sounds of Lewisville concert series. Lewisville also offers cultural arts fans performances by the Lake Lewisville Symphony, the Lake Cities Ballet, the Community Chorus, the Visual Arts League and the Greater Lewisville Community Theatre. And no matter what, be sure to make your way to the the lake for for the annual Christmas Twinkle Light Parade on Lake Lewisville.
